This is the Beautiful Part.

This morning I tripped over a bottle of matte medium and did a home-run slide into a stack of drawing paper.

This is a good thing.

Every artist works differently.  Some do painstaking preparatory drawings.  Some sketch images and compositions directly onto the canvas. My approach to painting is simple:  I attack.

My “Fighting Approach” has many, many drawbacks. The main one being, at some point I end nearly buried by half-finished paintings in a studio that is a disheveled, dusty mess.

This is a good thing.

This is the beautiful part.

BIG Love,

  2. Attacking prevents being frozen by fear. Keep slip sliding away. DG

  3. Matte medium is pretty fabulous stuff. (I might have a small addiction to it.) It lives separately from the drawing paper, but it's been known to varnish many (many!) surfaces in my studio.
